Yet again we find ourselves swarmed with other minor projects and life that have further delayed our timeline, quite possibly a month's time.
You can see a sample of our recent updates.

Check List
As our progress continues to go uphill, thankfully, here's a basic checklist of what's been done, and what's left.
Since our Pre-Production has been the biggest portion of our work, most of the below are under that phase. The good is that all there is not much to do in Production and Post.
DONE:
- Character Development
- Concept Art
- Final Designs
- Story Idea
- Script
- Storyboard
- Story Reel w/Audio
- Few Animation Tests (will blog about soon)
IN PROGRESS:
- Documentation + Production Bible (frequently updated)
- BGs/Layouts (unfortunately held off for a long while)
- Work Reel + AfterEffects
- Audio + SFX
REMAINING:
- Animation
- Cleanup/Colour
- Final Edit

Progress II
Another quick update, this time we're moving strongly right into a second storyboard revision based on the most recent idea (which I will keep secret). So wait for the upcoming Story Reel post for a sneak peak into our work.

Oh Changes
Like we expected before, even within our most recent plot, Hamloul's Pizza Delivery, we still went and changed bits and pieces. But the main reason was how he was going to reach his destination, with whom, and why the story made more sense that way. All the while keeping in mind the humor and simplicity of it all....
So again, we've gone to a Camel delivering the Pizza to a great big Bull, who happens to live in a building of misfit animals and humans that all coexist, and having the irony of Hamloul's reflection (mirror inside an elevator) be his true antagonist by snatching up the pizza, eating it, and leading the Bull to beat up poor ol' Hamloul for it.
Here's our Story Reel based on the above:
Then we got feedback...which would lead to another excellent bit of advice: audience is very important, and if you have an experienced audience than great! But when you're running short on time, fuel, and getting way too much feedback (good or bad). It's time to focus, who matters most? Is the humor relative? (always is) And is it absolutely crucial to take that feedback word for word, set back your whole work flow, and lose motivation?
I think those answers are pretty rhetorical, but nonetheless our group certainly went through every bit of it. It brought down a bit of the team morale, messed up our pipeline, and called for an emergency meeting. That being said, at this point we definitely know what needs to be done.

Progress I
Just a quick progress update.
We're currently rolling straight into storyboard, hoping to get a Story Reel with Audio & SFX right after that.
This Reel will based on the final Plot we had in mind, mentioned here.

Script Revision I
Now that we've gone in a very different path than planned before with more characters, situations, and places, we'll have to re-visit the script, scratch that, I meant completely throw it out, and go for a brand new script suiting a 1 minute short.

Time is Money
Literally, especially in our kind of business where Time is Money. Take time management very seriously because in the real world it could possibly be your neck on the line.
After that very welcoming intro I'm sure you're thinking...but some movies do come out past deadline?
Uh yeah...but they do lose money over that, and I would only advise you to really do it if you think you have a masterpiece that will shake the world at it's core.
But because we Shanyoub's like to practice what we preach, we've decided to show you the irony that is called our PIPELINE. We're lucky enough not to have a budget, and not to be working for anybody but ourselves and that's like any other student, independent project. You expect to make mistakes grow stronger, and move on.
In our case we had many exterior issues to tackle before completely focusing on our project, but that wasn't it, story changes, group disagreements, and all kinds of forces interfered with our timeline's progress (Very natural might I add).
Few sample updates. Yes we eventually abused our buffer time. Yay.

Changes
To date, we've gone through 3,465,743 story ideas...
Not really, but if you're going through the same and have gone completely mad, don't and be very glad you have that many ideas to begin with. There is one tiny catch. FOCUS and lots of it.
Now this post isn't really intended for advice but more of showing how we got here, and yes you may learn a thing or two!
Our story evolved from a Camel working as a Janitor at the Dentist's office, who just so happens to be a toothless Reptile, all the way to the Camel having an insane crush on a professional ballet dancing Ostrich.
Preliminary Art:
While all those snippets may sound pretty crazy they still seemed good potentials, with suitable humor and showcased the right amount of animation, we slowly realized our ideas were turning into a big mess, over complicated scenarios, and too much potential for a mere 3 months. That's when this happened....
HAMLOUL'S PIZZA DELIVERY
Yes, just as crazy, but a simple plot that puts our helpless protagonist through a humorous, ironic journey. No more spoilers, but be sure that even within this plot there will be minor tweaks here and there to perfectly end our short.
Friendly Advice: There will be drama, frustration, stress (lots), and even the occasional looniness, but there will always be REWARD with hard work (cheesy yet true).
